Vivek Agnihotri Slams John Abraham: "Focus on Eating Protein, You Are Not a Historian"

Director Vivek Agnihotri and actor John Abraham exchanged barbs over the former's blockbuster film, The Kashmir Files. The public spat began after Abraham shared his views on films that he believes are made to "politically sway" audiences.

John Abraham's Stance on 'Politically Charged' Films

During a recent interview, John Abraham stated that he would never make films like The Kashmir Files or Chhaava. While he acknowledged the commercial success of these movies, he expressed concern over their intent, describing it as "scary."

"When films are made with the intent to sway people in a hyper-political environment, and such films find an audience, that is scary for me," Abraham said. He reiterated his commitment to making apolitical films, prioritizing a balanced and responsible narrative over what he sees as jingoistic content.

Vivek Agnihotri's Sharp Rebuke

In response to Abraham's comments, Vivek Agnihotri launched a scathing attack, questioning the actor's credentials to comment on cinema. In an interview with NDTV, Agnihotri dismissed Abraham's remarks, stating, "John is not a historian, an intellectual, a thinker, or a writer."

He also pointed out Abraham's own work, mentioning his roles in films like Satyameva Jayate and Diplomat, which Agnihotri described as "very, very jingoistic."

The director's most pointed comment, which has since gone viral, was his advice to Abraham. Agnihotri said, "He is known for driving motorbikes and showing his body and eating protein. He should focus on those things. It's better if he doesn't get into talking about films."

This public feud highlights a deeper, ongoing debate within the film industry about the role of cinema in a socio-political context. While some artists believe in using their platform to tell stories that are politically and historically charged, others, like John Abraham, prefer to create content that they feel is more universally appealing.
