The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has strongly condemned remarks made by Pakistani artistes in response to India's recent 'Operation Sindoor' and has called for a complete ban on Pakistani actors, filmmakers, and financiers working in India.

The cine body issued a press release earlier today expressing their outrage over statements made by prominent Pakistani actors Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan following India's military action. 'Operation Sindoor' was reportedly launched in retaliation to a terror attack in Pahalgam and involved strikes on multiple terrorist hideouts across the border.

According to AICWA, the statements made by these actors not only disrespected the nation but also insulted the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers and the innocent lives lost to terrorism. The association has reaffirmed its commitment to a strict and complete ban on Pakistani talent in the Indian film industry.

"It is time for the Indian film industry to understand that blindly supporting these artists under the pretext of art is a betrayal of national pride," the AICWA stated. They urged Indian artists to refrain from collaborating with Pakistani talent and called upon music companies to cease promoting Pakistani musicians on Indian platforms or sharing global stages with them.

The association specifically criticized individuals within the Indian film fraternity who continue to show sympathy and support for Pakistani artistes, urging them to prioritize national sentiment. "Our nation must come first," the statement emphasized.

AICWA also addressed the issue of freedom of speech, asserting that those who insult the nation should not be privileged with work opportunities in the Indian film industry. The association reiterated its unwavering stance of "Nation First."

This development comes amidst heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following 'Operation Sindoor'. While details of the operation remainsparse, it has triggered a wave of reactions on both sides of the border, including strong support for India from several international allies who have recognized India's right to self-defense against terrorism.

The call for a ban by AICWA is likely to reignite the debate surrounding the presence of Pakistani artistes in the Indian entertainment industry, a topic that has surfaced in the past during periods of strained relations between the two countries.

It remains to be seen how the Indian film industry will respond to this strong stance taken by the AICWA. However, the association's firm tone suggests a determined effort to uphold the ban and prioritize national interests within the cinematic landscape.

Below is the Media Release Issued by All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) Strongly Condemns Anti-India Statements by Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan Mumbai, India – The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) strongly condemns the anti-India statements made by Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and actor Fawad Khan, who have openly criticized India and questioned the nation’s actions in defense of its sovereignty. Mahira Khan labeled India’s military response as a “Seriously Cowardly” act, while Fawad Khan, instead of condemning terrorism, focused on criticizing India’s stance and supporting divisive narratives. These statements are not just disrespectful to our nation but also an insult to the countless innocent lives lost due to terrorism and the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our country. AICWA reaffirms its strict and complete ban on Pakistani artists, filmmakers, and financiers working in India. No Indian artist will collaborate with any Pakistani talent, nor will any global platform be shared with them. Stop Supporting Pakistani Artists – A Call to Indian Artists While Pakistani artists openly chant “Pakistan Zindabad” and stand firmly with their country, it is time for the Indian film industry to understand that blindly supporting these artists under the pretext of “art” is a betrayal of national pride. Some individuals in our industry continue to show sympathy and support for Pakistani artists, ignoring the sentiments of our nation. AICWA urges these individuals to stop supporting those who openly disrespect India. This is not just about art—it is about standing with your country during critical moments. Our nation must come first. Music Companies and Artists Must Take Responsibility It is unfortunate that several Indian music companies continue to promote Pakistani artists, giving them frequent work and exposure. Many Indian singers also share stages with these artists globally, ignoring the sentiments of the nation. AICWA calls upon these companies and individuals to stop supporting Pakistani talent and to stand with the nation. Abir Gulal Movie – A Shameful Example AICWA strongly condemns the filmmakers, producers, and artists of the film “Abir Gulal” for casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan despite the Pulwama attack, where several Indian soldiers were martyred. What message do such filmmakers want to convey? They even came to India to release this film, showing complete disregard for the nation’s sentiments. This is a disgrace to the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers. A Call to the Indian Film Industry AICWA urges all stakeholders in the Indian film industry, including Bollywood and regional industries, to respect this ban and prioritize national interest over any so-called “artistic collaborations.” Indian artists and filmmakers must decide whether they will stand with their nation or continue to engage with those who openly oppose it. Those who insult our nation under the pretext of freedom of speech should not be given the privilege of working in our industry. AICWA stands firmly with the nation, upholding the principle of “Nation First.” Nation First | Jai Hind | Hindustan Zindabad | AICWA Issued by:All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA)
