Alia Bhatt Faces Social Media Heat Over Mother Soni Razdan's Post on Indo-Pak Tensions

Alia Bhatt Faces Social Media Heat and Unfollowing Spree Over Mother Soni Razdan's Post.

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is finding herself at the receiving end of online criticism and a wave of unfollows on social media following a post shared by her mother, veteran actress Soni Razdan. The controversy erupted amidst the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, India's decisive response to the terror attack in Pahalgam.

Soni Razdan recently shared a post on her Instagram account, which included a link to a peace petition urging an end to hostilities between the two neighboring nations. While Razdan's intention appeared to be promoting peace and de-escalation, the timing of the post, following India's military action against terrorist infrastructure, drew sharp reactions from some netizens.

Many users felt that Razdan's call for peace, without a specific condemnation of the preceding terrorist act that triggered Operation Sindoor, was ill-timed and insensitive to the sacrifices made by the Indian armed forces and the victims of the attack. The comment section of Razdan's post was reportedly flooded with critical remarks, leading her to eventually disable comments.

However, the online anger didn't stop there. A significant number of social media users have now turned their attention towards Alia Bhatt, expressing their displeasure by unfollowing her on various platforms. Screenshots and comments circulating online show users stating their decision to unfollow the actress, holding her accountable for her mother's views.

Some of the comments directed at Alia Bhatt on her recent posts include accusations of being tone-deaf and lacking solidarity with her own nation during a sensitive time. While Alia herself has not publicly commented on her mother's post or the ensuing backlash, the impact is evident in the growing number of users reportedly unfollowing her.

Alia Bhatt's last Insta post of May 1 is getting a lot of new comments, with many netizens saying that they are unfollowing her because of her mom. A netizen wrote, "Hindustan ko tumhare jarurat nahi hai. Tumhe jarurat hai hindustan ki. Tumhare log aate hai Bollywood main." Another netizen wrote, "Hurtful to see you perpetuate such hatred." One of the netizens wrote, "Time to unfollow." An internet user wrote, "Lost all respect for Alia. A salute to war."

Another internet user wrote, "I am from Nepal and i was your huge fan but i think it’s time to unfollow you. No matter who is at fault, an innocent person shouldn't have to lose their life. And war only makes innocent people suffer. spread peace and love." For the unversed, after Operation Sindoor, Alia was among the first few who congratulated the Indian Armed Forces and praised them for their bravery.

After posting the petition link, Soni realised that Indians were angry . Thus, she dropped a story on her Instagram, applauding the valour of the army. On her Instagram story, she wrote, "Gratitude for those Bravehearts who are fighting for our safety. You are all in our thoughts and prayers constantly." However, the damage was done, and Alia had to face the burnt of it.

It's worth noting that Alia Bhatt was among the first Bollywood celebrities to acknowledge and commend the Indian armed forces for their bravery and successful execution of Operation Sindoor. This makes the current trolling and unfollowing even more complex.
