EK THA TIGER: Release Phenomenal, Advance Booking Phenomenal
Ek Tha Tiger will shatter all first day box office records all over India as the advance booking for the film is phenomenal and that too on a phenomenal release across India. Ek Tha Tiger that releases tomorrow - 15th Aug 2012, will be the first Hindi film to be screened in over 3000 screens. Ra.One and Don2 had 3000 plus screens but that was not just Hindi but with their South India dubbed versions as well.
The advance box office booking for Ek Tha Tiger which opened over the weekend at places is phenomenal in every circuit. Obviously with such wide releases you don't get 70-80% first day tickets sold in advance for day one as was the case 10-12 years back but the film will have the highest number of tickets sold in advance before the day of release.
Ek Tha Tiger should set important benchmarks across India tomorrow (15 Aug 2012), when it releases. Salman is now all set to regain the opening day box office record that was created with Bodyguard last Eid, with expectation of nothing less than Rs. 30 crores opening day. The film is also expected to hit double digit figures in Mumbai circuit. If it hits the 10 crore nett mark in Mumbai it will be the first time that a circuit total has hit double digit numbers.
Meanwhile bets are being placed on the number of days in which Ek Tha Tiger would cross the Rs. 100 crore milestone. The record is currently held by Salman himself whose Bodyguard had managed this total in its extended week last year. Now for Ek Tha Tiger it is expected that Salman would manage this huge moolah in five-six days flat.
It could also create records in Mysore and Tamil Nadu where the last few Salman Khan starrers have not broken records despite breaking records in other circuits.
However that is just the beginning. Real fun would begin from Monday onwards after Eid. If the film is indeed appreciated, sky would be the limit as Muslim audiences are expected to flock the theatres on weekdays as well. It would be the best Eid haul ever for Bollywood if the film lives up to the hype
That would result in another round of calculations for the film because it would be Aamir Khan's record of 3 Idiots that would come under the scanner. Whether Ek Tha Tiger box office collections actually beats the final business of Three Idiots depends on content, the opening will give it a real great chance. The distributor share of Three Idiots is an easier target and can be achieved even with average appreciation.
"For Salman it is pretty much assured that Bodyguard total of over Rs. 148 crores would be comfortably beaten. However, he is challenging Rs. 200 crores that 3 Idiots had accumulated", comments a source, "With everything going in the film's favour, no competition in sight and no major release for three more weeks, getting on the top of the game would be the real deal for Salman."
