Sooraj Barjatya Miffed with Ekta Kapoor, Contemplating legal action for Using Name in 'Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3'
Sooraj Barjatya is believed to be contemplating taking legal action against Ekta Kapoor's upcoming adult comedy 'Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3' for using his name without permission
If sources are to be believed, the recently released trailer of Ekta Kapoor's 'Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3', which is abundantly laced with adult humour, has got Sooraj Barjatya's goat. The filmmaker, who is known for his brand of clean family entertainers, is said to be upset over his name being used in the sex comedy. Sources close to him say he is planning to take legal action against the makers.
Says a source, "After the trailer released, one of Barjatya's assistant directors informed him about references being made to him and asked him to watch it. He is upset that his name has been used without permission." In the trailer, actress Mandana Karimi talks about introducing her reel beau Tusshar Kapoor to her father, who is all about sanskaar and family values. Tusshar then says, "Tumhare daddy Sooraj Barjatya ke filmon ke babuji jaise honge pata nahin tha." Mandana then replies, "Mere daddy Barjatya nahin, Karjatya hain. Surya Karjatya."
Barjatya is also unhappy with the way the title of his 1994 blockbuster 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun' is referred to as 'Hum Aapke Hai Porn', adds the source: "The assistant director has conveyed Barjatya's response to the makers of the sex comedy."
Aman Gill, CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures (Ekta's production house), explains that it has been done only for the sake of humour and to raise a few chuckles. "'Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3' is a comedy that is meant to tickle the funny bones of the audience with various spoofs. In no way are we trying to hurt anyone's sentiments," he adds.
While Barjatya remained unavailable for comment, a senior member of his production house informs us that he is planning to initiate legal action if references to him and his films are not deleted from the 'porn com'.
When we asked Gill what the production house will do in case they are slapped with a legal notice, he simply replied,
"The film has done spoofs on many films and does not intends to insult anyone."
