Though he prefers that his daughter Sonam find her feet in Bollywood, Anil Kapoor is now all set to produce a film especially for her.
It is learnt that the doting dad is planning a project inspired by British novelist Jane Austen's classic Emma with Sonam in the title role. As it is still in the initial stages, the nitty-gritties of the project are being chalked out. The director and the rest of the cast has also not yet been finalised.
Says a source, "When Sonam made her acting debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya, Anil Kapoor was often asked why he did not launch her instead. But he wanted her to learn things on her own. Earlier, when she assisted Bhansali during the making of the Amitabh-Rani starrer Black, it was her way of knowing the hows and whys of B-Town. She wanted to be familiar with the behind the camera scenario too."
However now that Sonam has completed the shoot of her next project Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Dilli 6, Anil has been toying with the idea of a movie with especially her in mind. Adds the source, "After Saawariya, Sonam did not indulge in a movie-signing spree. She was in no hurry and only wanted to essay characters that suited her and excited her."It is learnt that Emma's character was found extremely suitable for Sonam. Sources add that Anil Kapoor felt that though it is a known classic, it is a subject that has its own charm and appeal to which several young women will relate to.
Emma Who?
Emma was written by well-known British novelist Jane Austen and was first published in December 1815. It is about the perils of misconstrued romance. The main character, Emma Woodhouse, is beautiful, intellectual, and slightly spoiled. Having lost her mother at a young age, Emma is mature for her age and takes over the running of the home. Vowing that she will never marry, she delights in making matches for others. She is unable to fall in love, until she realises that she has been in love with George Knightley, her biggest critic and also her close friend.
