Aditi Rao Hydari on her marriage and separation: As actors, discussing personal stuff is not important
Actor Aditi Rao Hydari, who will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, says that the more work she takes up, the less she is bothered by rumours.
Powerful roles, strong statements, and no controversies as such — this pretty much describes actor Aditi Rao Hydari for those who don’t know her well. Although Aditi has mostly tried to let her work do the talking, her personal life has also garnered limelight on many occasions — her secret marriage being the highlight.
For the uninitiated, Aditi was married to actor Satyadeep Mishra, but she later mentioned in an interview that the two were separated. However, she doesn’t really feel comfortable talking about it even today.
Mention her past relationship and the supposed bad marriage she went through, and Aditi says, “I haven’t talked about it in the past and there’s a reason I don’t want to talk about it even now. Somehow, I don’t think that [discussing] personal stuff — in terms of which family I come from or where I grew up — all that is not important as actors. We have to be transparent and we need to take on whatever is given to us, and we need not talk about our private life in open.”
Apart from her separation, Aditi’s link-up with her Wazir co-star Farhan Akhtar also made news. She has never really spoken about it, choosing to laugh them off as mere rumours. Asked if such reports bother her, she tells us, “The time duration for which it bothers me reduces with more work that I take up because I just realise that there is more to do. Also, as long as your family and people around you know what’s happening, I think you are answerable to them, and most importantly, you are answerable to yourself. You can’t be thinking about anything else.”
Talking about link-up rumours in general, Aditi adds, “Again, this [acting] job is such. These link-up rumours are a part of your territory. People will make up stuff about you and make a mountain out of a mole hill. It’s fine. Everybody is doing their job and we have to focus on doing ours.”
While many actors take to social media or talk in the media about rumours surrounding them, one wonders why Aditi has not felt the need to do so. “If you do that, then you are talking about it even more. What’s the point? So, I don’t see the need to do that. For me, my family, dignity, and self respect are very important, and that’s the way I have been brought up,” she clarifies.
