Following the passing of Bollywood legend Dharmendra, details regarding his estate and final wishes are coming to light, revealing a profoundly emotional decision regarding his ancestral property in Punjab. Reports confirm that the actor's modest, yet highly valued, childhood home and surrounding land will not be inherited by his children—Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Esha Deol, or Ahaana Deol—but was instead legally transferred to other family members during his lifetime.

Dharmendra's Dango Village Home: Why He Gifted the ₹5 Cr Property to Other Family, Nephews

The property in question is Dharmendra's ancestral mud-and-brick home, located in Dango village, Ludhiana district, Punjab. It is the place where the actor spent his formative early childhood years.

Though simple, the house and approximately 2.5 acres of attached land are now estimated to be worth nearly ₹5 crore. For Dharmendra, however, the value was entirely sentimental, representing his roots and a promise made to his own father.

A Duty-Bound Decision

According to reports, Dharmendra chose this path not because of any dispute or lack of affection for his immediate family, but due to a deep sense of familial duty:

Honoring a Promise: Dharmendra's father had entrusted him with the care of the ancestral land. As the actor's career took him to Mumbai and cities outside of Punjab, he recognized that his own children, settled in metropolitan areas, would be unable to provide the continuous care and upkeep the land required.

A Gift of Security: The property was gifted to his uncle's grandsons (his nephews), including Boota Singh, who continued to live in the region. These relatives had dedicated themselves to safeguarding the property for decades, preserving its sentimental value for the family.

The legal transfer of the property, valued at ₹5 crore, was reportedly completed by Dharmendra around 2015, years before his passing. This means the ancestral home was a gift, not a component of his main will or estate.

One relative reportedly commented on the gesture, saying, "He never thought of its value. For him, it was simply home."

Dharmendra's Larger Estate

It is important to note that this specific ancestral property is separate from Dharmendra's massive overall estate. The veteran actor's total wealth, which includes his sprawling Lonavala farmhouse, a Mumbai bungalow, the 'Garam Dharam' restaurant chain, and other assets, is estimated to be around ₹400 to ₹450 crore. Family sources suggest this larger estate is expected to be distributed equitably among all his six children.

Dharmendra's decision regarding his ancestral land serves as a poignant reminder of his profound connection to his roots and his respect for family tradition over monetary value.
