I may get married in two years. At the same time, two years is long time so things may change.
Life has taught me not to make plans because man proposes and God disposes -- everytime you make a plan, God changes it. I try to live for now and right now I live for my work.
I am young and can do a lot of things for myself. I want to be genuine to my work. You should respect what is given to you.
What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage is special. I think marriage is a time of happiness. It takes a great deal of character and confidence for two people to make such a commitment to each other.
Before your entry onstage at this event, the song Tenu Le Ke Main Jawan Ga from Salaam-E-Ishq (picturised on Salman) was played. Does that indicate something? Is something going to happen between the two of you?
You guys could be good scriptwriters. I am going to hire you. I am trying to make a movie in a year and I promise you I will hire you.
What would you like your boyfriend to gift you?
Everyone knows diamonds are a girl's best friend. I don't ask for gifts, but if I ever did, I would ask for diamonds. Diamonds are never wasted even as an investment because they are easily sold. They last forever. Diamonds also have a certain sentimental value.
Do you believe in luck or divine power?
I don't believe in luck, but I do believe in the Divine. I believe I need blessings. Whenever I have faced a crisis or have really wanted something from my heart, I have always turned to God and 98 per cent of time He has given it to me.
If you believe in something with faith, that is a divine blessing. I am very happy they have used the word divine in the ad.
How happy are you about replacing Aishwarya in the Nakshatra ad?
I choose my brands very carefully.
I have been fortunate to mostly take on ads for products I am familiar with. I really hope I can benefit them.
I believe in hard work. I am not the kind of person who will go on the sets the day the ad is being shot.
I look into the script. I work with the cameraman and director. I sit with the brand's management people. I put in a lot of personal effort from the heart.
You are working hard on your Hindi for Raajneeti.
In my last 10 films, I thought I was speaking in Hindi but I guess I wasn't.
Rajneeti is a serious film. When you are doing this kind of film, you have to work really hard on it.
I have worked equally hard for my comic movies like Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Singh is Kinng as I have for serious films like New York and Raajneeti.
Whether it is a comedy or a serious film, we are doing serious business here. There is lot of money riding on each film and I give it my hundred per cent. That's what I think most people do.
When my film has to be promoted, I am always there. Raajneeti is no different. It is a special film for me. Many of people who have seen it have given tremendous feedback. By the grace of God, I hope that the audience will like it too.
Is your character in the film based on Sonia Gandhi's life?
Sonia Gandhiji is one of the most inspiring women in India. Personally, too, she is an inspiration. But this film and my character in it do not resemble her nor is it based on her life. I think it's really important to clarify that.
Is it true you recently refused Anurag Basu's film because you had to work with Priyanka Chopra?
No, that is not true.
Two or three films are offered to me every week; I cannot do all of them. We have so many channels and so much media that everything is reported. Deciding which film to do is a purely professional decision. I don't only work with friends; in fact, I have worked mainly with people who are not my friends.
What matters to me is whether the film is positive and whether the audience will come to see it. Deciding to do a film or not is a purely professional decision.
I have not taken a call on Anurag's film yet because I have just come back from the shoot of Tees Maar Khan which is being shot in Malshej (a hill station in Maharashtra). If I do say no to the film, it will because I will get to do a better film later.
How was it working with Farah Khan on Tees Maar Khan?
The shooting for Tees Maar Khan went off amazingly. That was one of the funniest times I had. My only comment on working with Farah Khan is that she should be doing more films.
Are you offered any project on television?
My time on the small screen is limited to my ads and I enjoy doing them.
