Lone Survivor of Air India Plane Crash: "Don't Know How I Got Saved"

Ahmedabad: In a miraculous turn of events following a devastating Air India plane crash yesterday, June 12, 2025, one passenger, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, has emerged as the sole survivor. The 40-year-old British-Indian, who was on Air India flight AI171 bound for London Gatwick from Ahmedabad, recounted his harrowing experience, stating, "Don't know how I got saved."


The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members, crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad airport. The incident has been described as one of India's worst aviation tragedies, with 241 confirmed fatalities.

Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, who occupied emergency exit seat 11A, attributes his survival to an almost supernatural mystery. Speaking to media outlets like DD News, he vividly described the terrifying 30 seconds that marked the final moments for the other 241 people on board. While the exact reasons for his survival are still being investigated, his presence of mind and the fortuitous seating in an emergency exit row are believed to have played a crucial role.
