Akshay Kumar & Dimple Kapadia lend voices for animated film Jumbo

Akki is all set to enter the animation space. Yes, you heard it right. Akshay Kumar has given the voice-over for Percept Picture Company's forthcoming animated film Jumbo. Akshay has not only lent his voice to the central character Jumbo but will also be a sutradhar (narrator) in the film. However, what really makes things interesting is the fact that giving Akshay company would be mom-in-law Dimple Kapadia who also has lent her voice for one of the characters in the film.

Jumbo is an emotional story of an elephant and also stresses on family values and relationships. The film explores the subject of love between a father and a son. Akshay has decided to dedicate the film to his son Aarav. The film is scheduled to release towards the end of the year.

One thing is for certain, Indian animation films are certainly making its presence felt. How else do you explain one of the country's biggest stars going ahead and lending his voice for an animated film?

Ra 1 makes approx 14.63 crore at the box office on Day 1 of release Ra.One will not set a new first day record as the final day 1 collections coming in are well off record pace especially in North and Central India. Some circuits are 50% short of Bodyguard while others are similar. Ra.One has collected around 14-15 crore nett on its first day as per early estimates. Despite the fact that Friday is a National Holiday, DUM MAARO DUM opened below the mark at the box office in the first and afternoon shows on friday morning at major centres of the country. Of course, the opening trends of DUM MAARO DUM were better than Abhishek Bachchan's last release GAME, but that's no compliment. The occupancy at multiplexes was slightly better, especially at metros, in 30% to 35% range, while single screens were between 10% - 15% - 20%. The average opening, thus, stands at 25% - 30%, which is poor. In view of the fact that it's a National Holiday, the morning and noon shows of DUM MAARO DUM should've started on 50% - 60% note at least.
