Mona Singh To Play Kareena Kapoor's Sister in 3 Idiots

Mona Singh has joined the ranks of other TV actors making their filmi debut. The actress recently shot for Raju Hirani's 3 Idiots where she plays Kareena Kapoor's sister. Mona says, "I couldn't have asked for a better launch. I was doing a show in 2007 in New York where I met Raju for the first time. He mentioned that he was writing a script with a role keeping me in mind. Exactly a year later, I got a call that I was cast in 3 Idiots." The actress was initially supposed to make her launch in a Bobby Pushkarna film that never took off. Mona will join the cast for the Mumbai schedule in January 2009.

Salman Khan Issued Supreme Court Notice On Acquittal In Chinkara Poaching Case Actor Salman Khan was today issued notice by the Supreme Court on an appeal by the Rajasthan government challenging his acquittal in two poaching cases. In July, the Rajasthan High Court found the 50-year-old actor not guilty of killing an endangered species of gazelle or chinkara in two separate incidents in 1998 while he was shooting a film in the desert state. The state government challenged his acquittal; it wants him to be imprisoned to serve the rest of his sentence - after being convicted in 2007 for hunting down and killing the chinkaras, he was awarded a one-year prison term and a five-year prison term respectively.
