Imran Khan Gets Cooks From Lucknow For His Wedding
Bollywood actor Imran Khan's wedding is the first high profile wedding of the year and he's making sure that it is nothing less than perfect, so much so that even the cooks are being flown from Lucknow to prepare traditional non-vegetarian dishes.
"For the wedding, cooks are being specially flown in from Lucknow. These are specialists and have been cooking for the family (Nassir Hussain's) for more than five decades. This is a traditional family of cooks having a more than 200 year-old lineage," said a source close to the family.
Afsar, the cook from Lucknow, was busy deciding the menu for the wedding in Mumbai all of Thursday. "I have back to back meetings with both sides of the family to decide the menu," he told us over the phone from Mumbai after concluding a sitting with the Maliks and before meeting the Khans. "Right now we're very confused on what should be the final dishes at the wedding. I'm still at the farmhouse where the wedding will take place," he said, adding, "I'm only looking after the non-vegetarian fare at the wedding." Afsar also cooked at Imran's engagement party. "Saara banane ka saaman, from a chhammach (spoon) to the handis and the masalas, sab Lucknow se aayega. We can't compromise on that as the final result can only be achieved with our own cooking style," he informed.
Khyber, a North West frontier specialty restaurant, will be doing the vegetarian cuisine. The ceremonies for the marriage will kickstart on Saturday with Mehndi at Avantika's farmhouse in Karjat.
