Although they knew that she was A.R. Rahman's wife, Saira, and AR Rahman have always kept their family life and charity activities private, and Rahman also liked it that way.

In March 1995, A.R. Rehman and Saira got married. His mother found Saira a bride for Rahman. Saira first met A.R. Rahman's mother and sister at a dargah in Chennai. Then, he talked to them and proceeded with the marriage proposal.
