In a landmark move, Tulsi Gabbard has been appointed as the Director of U.S. Intelligence, marking a significant shift in American intelligence leadership.

Tulsi Gabbard, though a practicing Hindu has herself clarified that she is not of Indian origin. She has roots in both Samoan and Hawaiian cultures. The 43 year old Tulsi Gabbard was also the first Hindu ever elected to the U.S. Congress.

​Tulsi Gabbard's mother Carol Porter Gabbard became interested in Hinduism, having been raised in a multicultural household. All her children have Hindu names - Bhakti, Jai, Aryan, Tulsi and Vrindavan. Tulsi also follows Hinduism since her childhood.

Tulsi Gabbard has been open about how her Hindu beliefs shape her views on life, politics, and her sense of service. In fact, she has described how her faith has influenced her commitment to values such as non-violence, compassion, and social justice.

In July, the Rajasthan High Court found the 50-year-old actor not guilty of killing an endangered species of gazelle or chinkara in two separate incidents in 1998 while he was shooting a film in the desert state. The state government challenged his acquittal; it wants him to be imprisoned to serve the rest of his sentence - after being convicted in 2007 for hunting down and killing the chinkaras, he was awarded a one-year prison term and a five-year prison term respectively.
