Priyanka Chopra Takes an Auto Rickshaw

Priyanka Chopra arrived for the Pearls education promotional event in a humble rickshaw. It happened coz her car broke down en route to the Pearls charity event. Priyanka Chopra was to reach a press conference organized by the NGO 'Pearl Wave' at Mumbai's Grand Hyatt on Monday (13th dec 2010), when all of a sudden her car's tyre gave way. Priyanka reached the venue bang on time in the auto-rickshaw much to everyone's amusement.

Priyanka specifically supported Pearls Wave II - an initiative by Ashi Dua and Aliyah Rashid of Flying Unicorn Entertainment that promotes women's right to education.

At the event, the actress explained why she chose to support this particular cause and said, "the education of the girl child is something that is very close to my heart." Check out more pictures from the event below.

Salman Khan Issued Supreme Court Notice On Acquittal In Chinkara Poaching Case Actor Salman Khan was today issued notice by the Supreme Court on an appeal by the Rajasthan government challenging his acquittal in two poaching cases. In July, the Rajasthan High Court found the 50-year-old actor not guilty of killing an endangered species of gazelle or chinkara in two separate incidents in 1998 while he was shooting a film in the desert state. The state government challenged his acquittal; it wants him to be imprisoned to serve the rest of his sentence - after being convicted in 2007 for hunting down and killing the chinkaras, he was awarded a one-year prison term and a five-year prison term respectively. He then spent a week in jail in Jodhpur before being granted bail. While finding him not guilty, the High Court had said there was no evidence to prove that the animals who were found dead were shot by Mr Khan's licensed gun. Box Office Report of Dum Maro Dum : 'Dum Maaro Dum' opens to dull houses. Despite the fact that Friday is a National Holiday, DUM MAARO DUM opened below the mark at the box office in the first and afternoon shows on friday morning at major centres of the country. Of course, the opening trends of DUM MAARO DUM were better than Abhishek Bachchan's last release GAME, but that's no compliment. The occupancy at multiplexes was slightly better, especially at metros, in 30% to 35% range, while single screens were between 10% - 15% - 20%. The average opening, thus, stands at 25% - 30%, which is poor. In view of the fact that it's a National Holiday, the morning and noon shows of DUM MAARO DUM should've started on 50% - 60% note at least. The terrific promotions as well as no major opposition to contend with are two factors that should have gone in its favor.
