Vivek Oberoi Says Don't Vote, Spread the Word...49-O...

Though Vivek Oberoi is in Philadelphia while shooting for Karan Johar's next, directed by Rensil D'Silva, he has been blogging since the terrorist attacks.

He writes, "Spread the word... 49-O... our power against corrupt politicians. Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and tell the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote for anyone! Such a feature is available, but obviously these leaders have never disclosed it. Why should you go and say "I vote for nobody"? because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received more than 123 '49-O' votes, then that polling will be cancelled. Not only that, the contestants will be removed and they cannot re-contest from there. Parties will have to look for genuine candidates. This would change our whole political system. It's surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public. It seems like a wonderful weapon against the corrupt parties in India. Show your power, express your desire not to vote for anybody, that's even more powerful than voting! Don't miss your chance. Vote, or vote not to vote (use 49-O). Use your voting right for a better India."
