Turkish sensation Hande Erçel has officially broken her silence, shutting down a viral "morphed" screenshot that claimed she referred to Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan as an "uncle."

The drama began during the Joy Awards 2026 in Riyadh, where Shah Rukh Khan was hosting alongside Egyptian actress Amina Khalil. Hande Erçel, a close friend of Khalil, was spotted in the audience recording the stage with a smile.

Initially, the footage went viral with fans gushing over Hande’s apparent "fangirl" reaction to the King of Bollywood. However, the narrative took a toxic turn when a screenshot-purporting to be from Hande’s Instagram Story-began circulating. The caption on the fake image read:

As the screenshot spread, Shah Rukh Khan’s massive global fanbase ("SRKians") reacted with disappointment and trolling, leading to a heated online debate. Realizing the scale of the misinformation, Hande Erçel took to social media to call out the forgery directly.

Replying to a post that shared the fake image, she wrote a simple, firm message: "This is fake."

She later clarified that while she was indeed filming her friend Amina Khalil, she never made any dismissive remarks about the Bollywood superstar.

The Great Apology: SRK Fans Pivot

In a rare turn of events for internet fandoms, the tide shifted immediately after the clarification. Upon realizing they had been baited by a "morphed" image created by trolls to spark a fan war, SRK fans moved from defense to deep regret.

The "Hater" Campaign: Many fans pointed out that the screenshot was likely fabricated by "anti-fans" to tarnish SRK’s global image. One user commented, "SRK haters use everyone and everything to spread lies. Thank you for putting a stop to this hate campaign."

Despite the fact that Friday is a National Holiday, DUM MAARO DUM opened below the mark at the box office in the first and afternoon shows on friday morning at major centres of the country. Of course, the opening trends of DUM MAARO DUM were better than Abhishek Bachchan's last release GAME, but that's no compliment. The occupancy at multiplexes was slightly better, especially at metros, in 30% to 35% range, while single screens were between 10% - 15% - 20%.
