His journey in the film industry began after his acting debut in Tuglak (2012) and a significant role in Ulidavaru Kandante (2014).

Shetty made his directorial debut with Ricky in 2016. The same year, his next directorial venture, Kirik Party, became a major commercial success, earning him the Filmfare Award for Best Director.
