Border 2 (2026): Everything You Need to Know Before You Watch

Nearly three decades after the 1997 cult classic Border redefined patriotic cinema in India, the much-awaited sequel, Border 2, is set to storm theaters on January 23, 2026. Directed by Anurag Singh (Kesari) and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, the film is positioned as India’s biggest multi-front war epic.

While the original film focused on the Battle of Longewala, Border 2 expands its horizons to depict the 1971 Indo-Pak war across the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The script is reportedly based on 3–4 real-life stories of martyrs entrusted to the filmmakers by the late CDS General Bipin Rawat.

Updated Lyrics: To fit the new narrative, Manoj Muntashir has penned new verses, though the legendary Javed Akhtar declined to participate in the recreation, citing a preference for original work.

Massive Runtime: The film has been cleared by the CBFC with zero cuts and a staggering runtime of 3 hours and 16 minutes.

Authentic Locations: Filming took place in strategically significant areas including Jhansi, Babina Cantonment, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir.

Certfication: It holds a UA 13+ certificate, making it accessible for families during the Republic Day weekend.

Expectations are sky-high, with industry experts predicting an opening day in the range of ₹35–40 Crore. Advance bookings have already shown immense traction in regions like NCR and Mumbai, signaling that Border 2 could potentially challenge the records set by Gadar 2.

Salman Khan Issued Supreme Court Notice On Acquittal In Chinkara Poaching Case Actor Salman Khan was today issued notice by the Supreme Court on an appeal by the Rajasthan government challenging his acquittal in two poaching cases. Despite the fact that Friday is a National Holiday, DUM MAARO DUM opened below the mark at the box office in the first and afternoon shows on friday morning at major centres of the country. Of course, the opening trends of DUM MAARO DUM were better than Abhishek Bachchan's last release GAME, but that's no compliment. The occupancy at multiplexes was slightly better, especially at metros, in 30% to 35% range, while single screens were between 10% - 15% - 20%. The average opening, thus, stands at 25% - 30%, which is poor.
