In July 2006, Rahul Mahajan got engaged to Shweta Singh who he has known for 13 years. They were in flying school together in the US, and also flew for the Indian airline Jet Airways. The wedding took place on 29 August 2006 at Blue Sea.

On 1 August 2008, Rahul Mahajan and his wife were granted a divorce by a Gurgaon court. District and session Judge Ramendra Jain granted their divorce after both parties mutually agreed on the move.
