Sriram Raghavan’s war drama Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda and the late Dharmendra, has had a respectable but challenging start at the box office since its release on New Year's Day, 2026.1

While the film opened strongly, it has struggled to maintain momentum due to heavy competition from the Ranveer Singh-led blockbuster Dhurandhar and the Hollywood release Avatar: Fire and Ash.

The film benefited from an extended four-day opening weekend:

  • Day 3 (Saturday) Jan 3, 2026 ₹4.65 Crore

Ikkis Key Performance Highlights

  • A Promising Start: The opening of ₹7 crore was considered impressive for a film led by a newcomer (Agastya Nanda's theatrical debut), performing significantly better than initial trade projections of ₹2–3 crore.
  • The "Dhurandhar" Effect: The film’s growth has been capped by the massive success of Dhurandhar, which is in its fifth week but still earning double-digit daily figures (over ₹12 crore on the same Sunday).
  • Critical Acclaim: Despite the average box office trend, the film has received glowing reviews for its emotional depth and Dharmendra's final performance.6 Amitabh Bachchan notably praised his grandson's "unfiltered honesty" in the film.
  • Occupancy: The film recorded a peak occupancy of roughly 25% to 28% during its Sunday night shows, indicating a slow but positive word-of-mouth among urban audiences.

Ikkis Box Office Verdict So Far

Trade analysts suggest that while the numbers aren't "bad" for a serious biographical war drama, the high production costs mean the film needs a very strong hold on weekdays to be declared a hit. It is currently trending toward a "Below Average" to "Average" commercial status unless it sees a major surge.
