First Look Dropped: Varun Dhawan Gears Up For Battle in Massive War Epic 'Border 2'


The patriotic fervor for one of Bollywood's biggest sequels just got a major boost! Actor Varun Dhawan's first look from the highly anticipated film Border 2 has officially been unveiled today, November 5, kicking off what is expected to be an aggressive two-month promotional campaign for the war drama.

Varun Dhawan, known for his versatility across genres, is set to step into a powerful new role that is a significant departure from his previous characters. The first look image of varun Dawan gives a glimpse of the actor in a compelling military avatar, signalling his preparation to tackle a role inspired by real-life military heroism.

A Star-Studded Sequel

Border 2 is a sequel to the 1997 cult classic 'Border', directed by J.P. Dutta, and is shaping up to be one of the biggest pan-India releases of 2026. 

The film Boder 2 boasts a powerful ensemble cast:

  • Sunny Deol: Reprising his iconic role as a "Fauji."
  • Varun Dhawan: Reportedly portraying a character inspired by Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a Param Vir Chakra awardee from the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
  • Diljit Dosanjh: Said to be playing the role of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, another Param Vir Chakra recipient.
  • Ahan Shetty: Sunil shetty's son - The actor is also part of the key ensemble cast.
The film is being directed by Anurag Singh, acclaimed for his work on the historical war film Kesari and the Punjabi hit Jatt & Juliet.

"The makers have planned for a good 2-month promotional campaign. The film caters to a massive pan-India crowd, and the timing aligns perfectly with the team's plans to begin the first phase of promotions this November," a source close to the production stated.

Varun Dawan's Intense Preparation for the Role in Border 2


To ensure authenticity, Dhawan's preparation has been extensive. Reports indicate that he has been receiving guidance from an Army officer on set to perfect his gait, body language, and the authentic use of artillery. His commitment to the role of a Param Vir Chakra hero has generated immense excitement among fans and the industry alike.

The release of Varun Dhawan's first look marks the beginning of the film's major promotional drive. Following Varun, the first looks of other key cast members, including Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, are also expected to drop soon.

Border 2 is set to hit theatres on the Republic Day weekend, January 23, 2026, promising a high-octane, emotional cinematic experience that celebrates the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces.

Box Office Report of Dum Maro Dum : 'Dum Maaro Dum' opens to dull houses. Despite the fact that Friday is a National Holiday, DUM MAARO DUM opened below the mark at the box office in the first and afternoon shows on friday morning at major centres of the country. Of course, the opening trends of DUM MAARO DUM were better than Abhishek Bachchan's last release GAME, but that's no compliment. The occupancy at multiplexes was slightly better, especially at metros, in 30% to 35% range, while single screens were between 10% - 15% - 20%. The average opening, thus, stands at 25% - 30%, which is poor. In view of the fact that it's a National Holiday, the morning and noon shows of DUM MAARO DUM should've started on 50% - 60% note at least.
