Dimpy had edged past 14 contestants from the show and over 16,500 applicants to be the bride of Rahul, who is the son of slain Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan. Rahul had earlier announced his decision to marry one of the three finalists Nikunj Malik, Dimpy Ganguly and Harpreet Chabra.

Rahul told Dimpy on the show: "In the audition tape you said you wanted to marry from when you were five years old. Sixteen years after your wait is over."

"People say you can die in love, but for me you are worth living for. I can say in front of the whole world that I love you," Rahul told Dimpy.

Even before his 'swayamvar' began, Rahul had expressed a soft corner for Bengali women.

"Bengali women are bold and beautiful. They are good looking - they are a perfect combination of beauty and brains. Besides, Kolkata has a very rich culture. I would love to marry someone from Bengal," Rahul had said before the show had kickstarted at Udaipur's Fatehgrah Palace.

The wedding was a lavish affair at the Leela Kempinski Hotel here. Several celebrities graced the event to shower their blessings on the couple.

The interest in Rahul Mahajan's televised marriage was palpable even on Twitter, where the wedding was one of the trending topics.

Rahul finally had announced his decision to marry one of the three finalists. Its Dimpy Ganguly, the 21 year-old bengali beauty. Dimpy has been the hot favourite among people as Rahul's choice. So it is Dimpy Ganguly who is Rahul Mahajan Swayamwar winner.

Lets wish the couple a Happy Married Life.
