Dia Mirza on meeting Halle Berry: We discussed that actors are capable of more than just acting
Actor Dia Mirza, who is excited about being appointed as the UN Goodwill Environment Ambassador, reveals that she was left in awe of Halle Berry when they recently met in Mumbai.
Actor Dia Mirza, who has recently been appointed as the UN Goodwill Environment Ambassador for India, met Die Another Day actor Halle Berry when the Hollywood star visited Mumbai last month. Berry’s India visit was kept under wraps and fans got to know only when she posted a picture of her strolling on the streets of Mumbai.
Talking about her conversation with Berry, Dia, who met her at an event, says, “We talked about a lot of things... how, as actors, we have powerful voices that can lead to social change, and how we are blessed with the opportunity to make a positive social impact. We also spoke about how, as actors, we are capable of doing so much more than just acting.” She adds, “We discussed the ridiculousness of certain political leaders who refuse to believe that climate change is real.”
All praise for Berry, she says, “It was remarkable to have a conversation like that with someone [from] across the globe who has such an extraordinary body of work. We both agreed that our profession has given us the chance to pursue a life of diversity, which gives us access to different growth aspects.”
Talking about her new role as Environment Ambassador for India, Dia says that she’s enjoying the responsibility. “I have always been a nature’s child, so it’s a wonderful and gratifying opportunity, and I am deeply invested in it. I will get to meet many incredible minds from across the world who have been working on sustainable innovation. My pursuit to evolve as a human being is deeply connected to the environment,” says the actor, who rose to fame with Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein (2001). Dia will next be seen in the much-awaited biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt’s life.
