Nawazuddin Siddiqui to Portray Bal Thackeray in Biopic: Report

If a report in DNA is to be believed, the actor will essay the role of Bal Thackeray in the under-production Shiv Sena founder's biopic.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is already recognised in the industry for his versatility in portraying unconventional roles. Be it his role of a bold gangster in Gangs of Wasseypur, his comical Pakistani journalist Chand Nawab in Bajrangi Bhaijan or his no-nonsense police officer in Raees, Nawazuddin has proven it time and time again that he can slay all kinds of roles.


However, this time the actor is set to be a part of a biopic on one of India's strongest personalities. Excited? If a report in DNA is to be believed, the actor will essay the role of Bal Thackeray in the under-production Shiv Sena founder's biopic.

According to the publication, the official announcement will be made on December 21 in a star-studded event in Mumbai where apparently Amitabh Bachchan will also be present.

When the publication contacted Siddiqui, the actor refused to make any comment.

Earlier, there were reports that Smita Thackeray was producing a biography on the life of Thackeray and Big B had received the majority votes to play the lead, among other contenders that included Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Manoj Bajpayee. However, we don't know if it's the same film.

Ra 1 makes approx 14.63 crore at the box office on Day 1 of release Ra.One will not set a new first day record as the final day 1 collections coming in are well off record pace especially in North and Central India. Some circuits are 50% short of Bodyguard while others are similar. Ra.One has collected around 14-15 crore nett on its first day as per early estimates. Of course, the opening trends of DUM MAARO DUM were better than Abhishek Bachchan's last release GAME, but that's no compliment. The occupancy at multiplexes was slightly better, especially at metros, in 30% to 35% range, while single screens were between 10% - 15% - 20%.
