AYODHYA, INDIA — The historic construction of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya has reached a momentous milestone, with the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust announcing the full completion of the main temple structure and complex. This achievement sets the stage for a grand religious ceremony on November 25, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the sacred 'Ram Dhwaja' atop the temple's magnificent shikhar (spire).

The rituals for the "dhwaja rohan" or flag hoisting ceremony will begin on November 23 while the main ceremony is scheduled to be held on November 25.

The ceremony, which will mark the symbolic and spiritual culmination of the massive construction effort, is being described as a "religious announcement" to the world that the Mandir is now entirely ready for devotees.

Completion of the Ram Mandhir Temple Complex

The temple trust confirmed that all construction work for the main temple has been completed. This includes the intricate carvings and installation of the Kalash (pinnacle) and flagpole on the main spire.

Significantly, the completion also encompasses:

Six Subsidiary Shrines: Temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, Suryadev, Goddess Bhagwati, and Goddess Annapurna, all situated within the parkota (outer boundary wall).

Ram Darbar: The 'Ram Parivar' deities are now virajman (seated) on the first floor of the temple.

Devotee Amenities: Pathways, stone flooring, and the development of the 10-acre Panchavati area are nearing completion to ensure smooth access for pilgrims.

The Significance of the 'Ram Dhwaja' Ceremony

The act of hoisting the 'Ram Dhwaja' (Dharma Dhwaj) is steeped in spiritual significance, serving as a formal declaration of the temple's completion.

Key Details of the Ram Dhwaja/Flag: The saffron-colored flag is reported to be 22 feet wide and 11 feet long, weighing about 11 kilograms. It will be mounted on a flagpole atop the temple, reaching a substantial height.

Symbols: The flag will feature the symbols of the Kovidara tree (representing the ancient kingdom of Ayodhya) and the Ikshvaku dynasty (or Surya Vansh), the lineage of Lord Ram.

The November 25 Event: Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to perform the aarti of the 'Ram Parivar' before hoisting the flag. The event will be a high-profile affair, with an estimated 6,000–8,000 invitees representing various sections of society.

Note: Senior Army officers were reportedly consulted by the temple trust and have conducted rehearsals for the flag-hoisting to ensure a flawless execution, given the flag's considerable size and weight at such a height.

A New Era for Ayodhya

The completion of the temple, following the historic Pran Pratishtha ceremony in January 2024 and the Bhoomi Pujan in 2020, marks the final major structural milestone. While auxiliary projects like the Trust office, guest house, and a 3.5 km boundary wall are still ongoing, the temple complex is now ready for full spiritual function.

The grand ceremony on November 25 will cement Ayodhya's status as a major global pilgrimage destination, welcoming devotees from all corners of the world to witness a centuries-old dream fulfilled.
