The couple, whose wedding was scheduled to take place in Smriti's hometown of Sangli on November 23, made the difficult decision to halt the final rituals after the bride's father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered a sudden health issue.
The emotional impact on the families was immense, prompting the immediate decision to postpone the wedding ceremonies.
"Palash ko uncle se bahut zyada attachment hai… Smriti se zyada yeh dono close hain," Amita Muchhal shared, emphasizing the strong bond between her son and his future father-in-law. She disclosed that it was Palash, even before Smriti, who decided that the pheras (wedding rituals) could not proceed until Shrinivas Mandhana was completely well.
The emotional burden led to a sudden deterioration in the composer's health. Amita Muchhal added, "He cried so much that his health suddenly deteriorated. They kept him in the hospital for four hours. He was given an IV drip, an ECG was done, and other tests were carried out. Everything came back normal, but he is under a lot of stress.”
Palash has since returned to Mumbai to rest and regain his strength, accompanied by his sister, Palak Muchhal. Smriti and Palash are reportedly "upset" and emotionally shaken that their dream day had to be interrupted, especially since they had only the final pheras remaining.
However, the families remain optimistic. Despite the unexpected turn of events, the mother is certain that the couple will tie the knot "very soon," once all health concerns are behind them and the celebrations can continue as planned. The wedding functions planned for the day after the scheduled date have all been cancelled, as the priority remains the well-being of the family members.
