Nobody knew the exact date and time of Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s wedding until the couple made an official announcement on social media yesterday. The newlyweds posted an adorable picture as husband and wife and captioned it saying, “Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share this wonderful news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans and well wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.”
Of course that’s a different thing that there have been constant speculations around the ‘Virushka wedding’ ever since people got to know how suspiciously Virat opted out of India’s limited-overs matches against Sri Lanka around the same time when Anushka too ducked out of her busy acting schedule and took off to Italy with her family and ‘famous’ Pandit. Yet, the lovebirds managed to keep their ‘destination wedding’ a big secret without letting anybody intervene during their wedding functions. So to give you a brief of how all of this happened, here’s a quick lowdown:
When did they decide their wedding date? Contrary to rumours which suggest Anushka-Virat finalised their wedding date only recently, we hear the couple has been planning their wedding since almost a year now. It was in Sri Lanka last year when both the families met and decided upon this December wedding. Considering Anushka always had a dream of getting married at a vineyard, Virat ensured to book the most dreamiest venue at the Borgo Finocchieto, Tuscany and the rest is for you to see in the stunning pictures…
Wrapping up Work ASAP: Once the wedding date was finalised, both Anushka and Virat decided to quickly wrap up their professional schedules just so that they have enough time to prepare for the wedding. So from what we hear, Virat although continued playing matches for India until last few weeks, he simultaneously also wrapped up his endorsement projects. By March, he was done shooting for most of his endorsement tie-ups. As far as Anushka is concerned, she informed all her directors and producers well in advance that she won’t be available at least for a month from December. While she wrapped up her bit for Aanand L Rai’s film, co-starring Shah Rukh Khan. She also informed the co-producers of Pari that she’ll resume only post mid-January, next year. However, despite keeping her managers in loop regarding the December break, both Anushka and Virat made sure they don’t reveal the wedding details.
Created a Private Whatsapp Group: Both the families began their grand preparations for the wedding by creating a private Whatsapp group restricted to family members only. Everything – right from the invitation card to the venue, were discussed on this Whatsapp group and much to their relief, none of the pics/details got leaked on the internet until the wedding day. Turns out Anushka’s brother was more involved than anybody else, looking into every little requirement for the wedding.
Why no Bollywood celebs? A wedding between a cricketer and a Bollywood star is always a big deal but Anushka and Virat wanted to keep it a rather intimate affair. Especially Anushka who was very clear from the very beginning that she doesn’t want to invite any Bollywood celebrity to her wedding, not because she has any issues with them but only because she didn’t want to make it a ‘public affair.’ She wanted to peacefully live the big moment of her life without any media/fan frenzy. However, a grand wedding reception has been planned for the entire Bollywood-cricket clan on December 26 at a 5-star hotel in Mumbai.
All said and done, we really feel every celebrity couple should take a cue from Anushka and Virat, in what they call the wedding of the year. What do you think?
