Salman Khan was the Brand Ambassador for Charity at IIFA 2010 and was very impressed with the Sri Lankan people and their hospitality. Salman is so sold on Sri Lanka that he wants his next film to be shot there. According to a source, he enjoyed every minute of the experience and made the decision while at a film awards event itself in Colombo.
"I'll be back," he promised smitten Lankan fans and has kept his promise. The minute he landed in Mumbai, he called up Ready producer Bhushan Kumar and Anees. Says a source, "The film was set to be shot in Mauritius, but when Salman expressed a keenness for the film to be located in Sri Lanka and promised that we'd be provided all facilities and amenities, we decided to go for it," says Bazmee.
Now that he's going back to the country barely two weeks after the event, the message from this rebellious Khan is loud and clear: it is Sri Lanka for him, no matter what the political ramifications are.
Confirms Anees, "We selected Sri Lanka because of Salman's enthusiasm for the place. He has created a huge rapport between Bollywood and Sri Lanka during his short visit there. At his recommendation, I airdashed to Colombo this week. He told me it would be an ideal location for us. And he was right. We leave for Sri Lanka on 18 June for a 40-day schedule. We're shooting in two luxury resorts."
Apparently, Khan is now busy recommending Sri Lanka to all his other producers and directors as well.
So Anees Bazmee's new film Ready starring Salman Khan and Asin Thottumkal will now be shot in Sri Lanka. Asin is also going to Sri Lanka on June 20, for the shoot with director Anees Bazmee and Salman.
Ready is produced by T-Series. The film's shooting in Sri Lanka begins June 20, 2010. The Rough Guide to Sri Lanka Available on amazon.com for 12.22 $
