Police investigations suggest a meticulously planned conspiracy. According to sources, Sonam reportedly began coordinating the murd*r plot with Raj Kushwaha just four days after her wedding to Raja on May 11. She allegedly lured Raja to the Northeast, specifically Meghalaya, under the pretext of a honeymoon and a visit to the Kamakhya temple.

It's believed that Sonam even planned to push Raja off a cliff herself if the hired k*ll*rs failed to execute the plan. She reportedly paid ₹20 lakh to the contract k*ll*rs and initially handed over ₹15,000 directly from Raja's wallet during the crime.

The Day of the Murder:

On May 23, the couple reportedly checked out of their homestay in Nongriat and embarked on a trek in Cherrapunji. They were allegedly joined by the three hired men, who posed as fellow tourists. A local guide, Albert Pde, has provided testimony of seeing the group. Police claim that Sonam deliberately lagged behind during the trek and gave a cue by shouting "k*ll him," leading to Raja being attacked with a sharp weapon and his body subsequently pushed into a gorge near Wei Sawdong Falls.

Family Reactions and Ongoing Investigation:

The Raghuvanshi family, devastated by Raja's death, has expressed their shock and grief. Raja's brother, Sachin Raghuvanshi, has thanked the Meghalaya government and police for their swift action and has apologized if the case inadvertently tarnished the state's image. He, along with other family members, has demanded strict action against all culprits and, in some instances, even called for a CBI inquiry to unearth further details. Sonam's own brother, Govind, has publicly disowned her and demanded the harshest punishment if she is found guilty.
