Tejasvi Surya in Washington: "Devils Quoting Scriptures" on Pakistan's Peace Rhetoric

Washington D.C. | June 5, 2025 – In a scathing critique delivered during his visit to Washington D.C., BJP MP Tejasvi Surya launched a sharp attack on Pakistan's diplomatic overtures, particularly the delegation led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in New York. Surya, who is part of the Indian all-party parliamentary delegation on a global outreach mission, didn't mince words, likening Pakistan's calls for peace to "the Devil quoting from the scriptures."

Addressing the media at the Indian Embassy, Surya ridiculed Bhutto's characterization of his delegation as a "peace delegation." "It is quite ironic that the Pakistani delegation is speaking the language of peace. It's like the Devil quoting from the scriptures," Surya stated, emphasizing the stark contradiction between Pakistan's words and its documented history of fostering te##orism.

The Bengaluru South MP's remarks come as the Indian delegation, led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, continues its "Operation Sindoor" mission. This diplomatic initiative, launched in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, aims to highlight Pakistan's alleged role in state-sponsored te##orism and garner international support for India's counter-te##orism efforts.

Surya further contrasted India's global contributions with Pakistan's international image. He pointed out Pakistan's reliance on "cheap Chinese imports," including military hardware, which he claimed "spectacularly failed on the battlefield." He asserted that it's difficult for Pakistan to reconcile with India's high-quality military capabilities and robust democratic leadership.

To underscore his argument, Surya drew a sharp distinction between individuals associated with each country in the US. He cited figures like Ramzi Yousef (1993 World Trade Center bomber) and David Coleman Headley (26/11 Mumbai attacks conspirator) as examples linked to Pakistan's track record. In contrast, he listed prominent Indian-origin individuals like Indra Nooyi, Sundar Pichai, Ajay Banga, Satya Nadella, and Kash Patel, highlighting India's significant contributions to the global stage, particularly in technology and business. "This is as stark a difference as it can be between these two countries. So Mr. Bhutto's two-day adventure here today, a two-day trip here, will not wash away this proven track record of Pakistan," Surya asserted.

The Indian delegation's meetings with senior US Congressmen and Senators have reportedly been "fruitful and encouraging," with Surya noting "full support for India and our retaliation through Operation Sindoor." He stressed that no sane person would equate India with Pakistan, emphasizing that Pakistan is widely seen as a "banana republic, a failed state, and an epicentre of terrorism," while India is recognized as an emerging global power.

Surya's direct and forceful statements underscore India's unwavering resolve to confront cross-border terrorism and hold Pakistan accountable for its actions on the international stage.
