Indian Masala at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival 2010

A six-member delegation from the Mumbai Film Festival, led by its director S Narayanan, will add some Indian masala to the 63rd Cannes Film Festival, one of international filmdom's oldest and most prestigious events.

The festival starts today in Cannes, France, and continues till May 23rd.

The Indian delegation is on-hand at Cannes to choose from an appetizing array of international films to showcase at the upcoming 12th Mumbai Film Festival, set for October 21-28, 2010.

The Mumbai Film Festival is organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image, a public trust chaired by Shyam Benegal, which counts as trustees Ashutosh Gowariker, Yash Chopra, Jaya Bachchan, Amol Palekar, Shabana Azmi, Amit Khanna, Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar.

In addition to its international and world cinema categories, the MFF awards showcases cinema from all over India.

Salman Khan Issued Supreme Court Notice On Acquittal In Chinkara Poaching Case Actor Salman Khan was today issued notice by the Supreme Court on an appeal by the Rajasthan government challenging his acquittal in two poaching cases. In July, the Rajasthan High Court found the 50-year-old actor not guilty of killing an endangered species of gazelle or chinkara in two separate incidents in 1998 while he was shooting a film in the desert state. The state government challenged his acquittal; it wants him to be imprisoned to serve the rest of his sentence - after being convicted in 2007 for hunting down and killing the chinkaras, he was awarded a one-year prison term and a five-year prison term respectively. He then spent a week in jail in Jodhpur before being granted bail. While finding him not guilty, the High Court had said there was no evidence to prove that the animals who were found dead were shot by Mr Khan's licensed gun. Box office Report of Ra.One No First Day Box office Record For Ra.One. Ra 1 makes approx 14.63 crore at the box office on Day 1 of release Ra.One will not set a new first day record as the final day 1 collections coming in are well off record pace especially in North and Central India. Some circuits are 50% short of Bodyguard while others are similar. Ra.One has collected around 14-15 crore nett on its first day as per early estimates. The collections are only for its Hindi version and regional version may have added around 1 crore nett.
