Aamir’s Dangal bulldozes through box office, earns Rs 106.95 cr in three days

Aamir Khan’s latest film Dangal has set the cash counters ringing at the box office. In its first weekend, the film grossed an impressive Rs 106.95 crore, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh who tweeted the movie’s business figures.

The earnings from Aamir’s wrestling-themed film take the whole numbers game among the three Khans to a whole new level. Now, Dangal is second only to Shah Rukh Khan’s 2014 film Happy New Year in a day’s collections. Happy New Year which released on October 24, 2014, raked in Rs 44.97 crore on its opening day.

Salman Khan Issued Supreme Court Notice On Acquittal In Chinkara Poaching Case Actor Salman Khan was today issued notice by the Supreme Court on an appeal by the Rajasthan government challenging his acquittal in two poaching cases. In July, the Rajasthan High Court found the 50-year-old actor not guilty of killing an endangered species of gazelle or chinkara in two separate incidents in 1998 while he was shooting a film in the desert state. The state government challenged his acquittal; it wants him to be imprisoned to serve the rest of his sentence - after being convicted in 2007 for hunting down and killing the chinkaras, he was awarded a one-year prison term and a five-year prison term respectively. He then spent a week in jail in Jodhpur before being granted bail. While finding him not guilty, the High Court had said there was no evidence to prove that the animals who were found dead were shot by Mr Khan's licensed gun. Ra 1 makes approx 14.63 crore at the box office on Day 1 of release Ra.One will not set a new first day record as the final day 1 collections coming in are well off record pace especially in North and Central India. Some circuits are 50% short of Bodyguard while others are similar. Ra.One has collected around 14-15 crore nett on its first day as per early estimates. The collections are only for its Hindi version and regional version may have added around 1 crore nett.
