Dangal vs Sultan: Opening Day/Show Box Office Numbers

Opening Show Box Office Figures - Dangal v Sultan

The opening of Dangal is less than Sultan mainly due to the business outside the big metroes. Sultan released on a national holiday but it was still pre Eid as Eid fell a day later while Dangal has released on a normal day. If we take out the holiday factor for Sultan then the opening in places like Mumbai and Delhi is similar as Sultan is around 20-25% more but the difference is in other places especially where single screens are involved. Out of the centres below, only Kanpur also has single screen figures while others are multiplex only and the biggest difference is there. The collections in the evening should be closer as Dangal is likely to grow at places where the opening is lower. Below are the admit figures of shows below noon with the cinema counts taken from each centre listed next to the city. All figures are like for like.

Ra 1 makes approx 14.63 crore at the box office on Day 1 of release Ra.One will not set a new first day record as the final day 1 collections coming in are well off record pace especially in North and Central India. Box Office Report of Dum Maro Dum : 'Dum Maaro Dum' opens to dull houses. Despite the fact that Friday is a National Holiday, DUM MAARO DUM opened below the mark at the box office in the first and afternoon shows on friday morning at major centres of the country. Of course, the opening trends of DUM MAARO DUM were better than Abhishek Bachchan's last release GAME, but that's no compliment. The occupancy at multiplexes was slightly better, especially at metros, in 30% to 35% range, while single screens were between 10% - 15% - 20%. The average opening, thus, stands at 25% - 30%, which is poor.
