We wouldn’t hide it: Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli shut down engagement rumours

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have shut down rumours of their engagement on Twitter. Kohli said that they weren’t ‘getting engaged’ and wouldn’t hide it if they were.



Anushka Sharma immediately retweeted Kohli’s statement, which the cricketer posted online on Friday. Their publicist also categorically denied the rumours as being true.

Kohli addressed the reports by saying that this statement was his way of ending the confusion spread by news channels.

The couple also visited an ashram in Haridwar on Wednesday night where they offered puja. A picture of the couple with Ashram’s head Guru Anant Maharaj later shared by the disciples of the ashram. However, the guru refrained from speaking to the media but one of his disciple confirmed the couple’s visit.

The rumours of their secret engagement began circulating when industry figures like the Bachchans and businessman Anil Ambani arrived in Dehradun, from where they went to Rishikesh, the purported venue of their engagement.

Salman Khan Issued Supreme Court Notice On Acquittal In Chinkara Poaching Case Actor Salman Khan was today issued notice by the Supreme Court on an appeal by the Rajasthan government challenging his acquittal in two poaching cases. In July, the Rajasthan High Court found the 50-year-old actor not guilty of killing an endangered species of gazelle or chinkara in two separate incidents in 1998 while he was shooting a film in the desert state. The state government challenged his acquittal; it wants him to be imprisoned to serve the rest of his sentence - after being convicted in 2007 for hunting down and killing the chinkaras, he was awarded a one-year prison term and a five-year prison term respectively. HYDERABAD: The Shoaib Malik-Ayesha Siddiqui tangle turned murkier on Sunday with the latter slapping serious charges against the Pakistani cricketer with the police. Acting on the complaint filed late in the afternoon, the Banjara Hills police registered cases against Malik under sections 498A (subjecting married woman to cruelty), 420 (cheating) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. Police said Ayesha has alleged that Shoaib married her, then harassed her over petty issues and later denied the nikah ever took place. Now, the complaint says, Shoaib is trying to marry again without her consent. Ayesha also alleged that Shoaib had offered her $1 million to keep the wedding under wraps and threatened to take her life in case she went to the media. A copy of the nikahnama was attached to the complaint, which was signed by Ayesha and brought to the police by her father.
