Some Unknown Facts About the VEER 'Pindaris'!

Anil Sharma's epic musical drama, VEER, starring Salman Khan in the title role of a prince, releases this Friday. The film set in the British Raj, is a period costume drama and has been promoted as a film based on fiction, rather than facts, much in the same way that Anil's Sharma's GADAR-EK PREM KATHA was, and even the film that released alongside GADAR, Aamir Khan's Oscar nominee, LAGAAN. VEER's love story may be pure fiction but the tribe 'Pindari' isn't. Salman is shown to belong to the tribe called 'Pindari' which came into existence almost 200 years ago, during the end of the Mughal dynastic rule. They were warriors and as shown in the film were skilled in sword fighting, horse riding and were full of courage and valour, quite similar to the Rajputs. The actor was seen at the racecourse partaking in a horse race. Since morning, there was a buzz of Salman Khan coming to the racecourse and riding the filly 'Wild Rose'. Youngsters, adults and the aged alike braved the heat to get a glimpse of their favourite star. Everyone present at the event - from chaiwalas to stall owners, from people placing bets to those who just came to engage themselves - everyone enquired about the presence of Salman Khan. Lisa Lazarus, who arrived in Mumbai yesterday to shoot for Veer, refused to come till she was provided with four bouncers that cost the producers close to Rs 2 lakh Miss Universe UK 2008 Lisa Lazarus, the second lead heroine of Salman Khan starrer Veer, flew down to Mumbai yesterday morning to shoot for the film but not before ensuring her safety. Without losing time producer Vijay Galani arranged for four bouncers so that Lisa felt comfortable Our source from the unit says, “A few days ago, Lisa informed Galani that she was keen to keep up her commitment of acting in Veer but she was apprehensive about her safety. Galani assured her that she should not worry and everything would proceed smoothly.” Elaborating on the financial repercussions of employing four bouncers, our source says, “Galani is paying Rs 16,000 per day for the four bouncers. Our source close to the unit says, “Salman wanted a warrior look for the film that he has been waiting to make for 15 years. When the film was finalised, he worked hard on the script. He wanted a distinct look in the film which is set in the 19th century. After much deliberation, Salman decided to have long hair and a stunning physique with it. The story of the film 'Veer' (directed by Anil Sharma) has been written by Salman himself and while we did show you some pics of the actor in his new look for Veer earlier, this picture gives you a clearer idea of what to expect from this flick. Salman, who is always known for experimenting with his looks, is seen in a beefed up, bronzed look with unusually long hair. The actor is seen wearing a fur jacket and an ethnic neckpiece and kada (bangle) Also from the looks of it, Salman seems to be playing a warrior of another era given the fact that he is seen holding a sword in one hand and a shield in the other. In the recent past, Abhishek Bachchan tried the 'superhero meets warrior' look in Drona but unfortunately the film sank without a trace.
