First Weekend Box Office Report of Players

Players Fails Badly At The Box Office, Drops On Saturday. Players has got the year off to a very bad start as box office collections could not pick up on Saturday after a poor start. Players had a poor weekend of around 14.75 crore nett as the film failed to make any headway over the weekend. The first day Players collected around 4.60 crore nett and second day is in almost the same region with a marginal drop in collections at around 14.50 cr, It collected about 5.50-5.75 crore nett on Sunday. The film has been rejected at the box office. Below are the Saturday figures with Friday numbers in brackets. All figures in lakhs. Players needed a 30-40% jump to even have a respectable weekend. The weekend being less than 15 crore nett is very bad. Players Opens To Below The Mark Collections at the Box Office. The year 2012 has commenced on an unexciting note! The first release of the year, the expensive PLAYERS, shocked the industry with a lackluster opening of 20% to 30% in its opening and noon shows. The average occupancy can be put at 25% at most cinemas in the opening shows. At several screens, the opening response was so poor that it was as low as 10-15%, which must have come as a rude shock to its principal distributors who had acquired the India theatrical rights for an exorbitant price. The general feeling, prior to its release, was PLAYERS would embark on a decent start thanks to the superb promotion by Viacom18 and also Abbas-Mustan's goodwill [their last release RACE was a major success]. Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor Begin Shooting for Players, The Italian Job Remake

Director duo Abbas Mustan have started shooting the official remake of the Hollywood crime thriller 'The Italian Job', Players in Goa. The movie stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Omi Vaidya and Bipasha Basu. Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor on the Sets of Players, With Directors of the film Abbas-Mastan 8 November was the first day of the shoot. Kapoor and Bachchan wrote about the shoot on Twitter. "In Goa starting a new film.. Excited and nervous all over again," tweeted Kapoor. While Bachchan wrote, "It's a new dawn, it's a new day and it's a new film! First day of shoot. Ok, I think I'll go faint now!! Nervous." The film is an official adaptation of the 2003 film Hollywood flick The Italian Job, which starred Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Donald Sutherland, Jason Statham and Edward Norton amongst others. The film is produced by Studio 18 and will be shot in Russia and New Zealand next.
