Rani Mukherjee who was set to walk the Cannes red carpet this year with designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, was replaced by Miss India world Kanishtha Dhankar owing to Rani's dad's illness. Kanishtha Dhankar wore a Sabyasachi Mukherjee dress which reminds us of the 60's princesses. Sabyasachi himself wore a bandhgala. Sonam Kapoor turns out to be India’s only original fashion diva. She made her Cannes red carpet debut in a Jean Paul Gaultier gown looking stunning as only a global celebrity can. Chopard earrings, an Amrapali ring and Ferragamo shoes completed the look that made the paparazzi turn its gaze towards her. “I had an absolute blast,” she tweeted soon after. Sonam attend the festival as one of the brand ambassadors of cosmetic major L’oreal Paris.

'Slumdog Millionaire' star Freida Pinto, who was supposed to be part of the 63rd Cannes International Film Festival, could not attend the event owing to shooting commitments. The actress was expected to walk the red carpet with the stars of her film 'You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger' directed by Woody Allen. Freida Pinto unfortunately could not attend the Cannes film festival as she was shooting for 'Immortals' in Canada. Her film 'You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger' directed by Woody Allen was premiered at Cannes this year. 'Immortals' directed by Tarsem Singh is slated to release in 2011. The Cannes Film Festival was held between May 12 and May 23 2010.

Mallika Sherawat attended ‘Cinema Against AIDS 2010’ event organised by amfAR (a non-profit organisation dedicated to AIDS research).
