Before the reboot kicks off, here is a list of characters that have been taken over by new actors in Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2. With just hours left before the launch of the year’s most anticipated soap opera, here’s an introduction to Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 that every fan needs. The fan favourite show from early 2000s is coming back on television on Tuesday and the curiosity around it is tremendous. Since it has been 17 years since the Balaji Telefilms show aired its first episode, a lot has changed. From the first few promos of the reboot, it is safe to assume that the locations now seem more authentic, we are indeed in real-time Kolkata. The actors are also not the same. Sarabhai vs Sarabhai is coming back, how about watching those ’80s serials all over again?

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai is get to return in May. If the lovers of the serial are ecstatic, they have reasons to be so. This reminds one of the golden era of Doordarshan when serials like Hum Log, Buniyaad, Karamchand etc ruled the roost. How about watching them all over again? The 2000s hit sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004-2006) is all set to return in a new avatar in May -- as a web series on Hotstar. Given the kind of goodwill and expectations the audience has from popular TV serials, wouldn’t it be great to revive some of best-loved serials of the golden years of Indian TV? And if ...

The single biggest reason for this ichadhari takeover of idiot box is Ekta Kapoor and her show Naagin. There is something about Indian television which brings out the animal in the scriptwriter, directors, actors and whoever thinks up those monstrosities that desi audience calls TV shows. At the last count, we had an ichadhari (shape shifting) makkhi, buffalo, snakes (old hat those), peacock, tiger, honey bee and a buffalo. For those looking for silver lining, these shape-shifters have not replaced murderous mothers-in-law and suicidal daughters-in-law (or was it the other way round?), they co-habit with them. You would think this would have led to the audience preferring death over death due to boredom, but no sir, these characters are part of TRP generators. A firm believer of if you can’t beat them than join them, we took some of the stuff the said directors, scriptwriters etc must be smoking and watched the shows. Here’s what the ichadharis have been up to lately and g...
