Freida Pinto attended the premiere of her new film Miral at the BFI London Film Festival. Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto plays the lead role in Miral. Miral is French director Julian Schnabel's movie about a group of orphans in Jerusalem. Miral is sent to the orphanage at the age of seven after her mother's death. She grows up at the institute and only at the age of 17 does she get to leave and face the harsh reality outside the protection walls of the orphanage. The French trailer for Miral has just gone online. Directed by Julian Schnabel (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), the film revolves around a real orphanage in Jerusalem set up by a Palestinian woman (Hiam Abbass). Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) plays Miral, a young woman who grew up in the orphanage and who becomes an activist when she is assigned to teach at a refugee camp and sees that Israelis and Palestinians actually don’t get along too well. The dialogues of the film are in English (with French subtitles). In addition to Frida, the drama also stars Willem Dafoe (Antichrist), Hiam Abbass (The Limits of Control), and Vanessa Redgrave (Atonement). Miral is slated to open on December 3rd.
