Chaiyya Chaiyya and Jai Ho singer Sukhwinder Singh is eager to get married this year; says that even AR Rahman keeps pestering him to tie the knot. At 45, Sukhwinder Singh is yearning to find his soulmate and tie the knot. “Koi meri shaadi karwa do, nahi toh main kuein mein kood ke jaan de dunga (Someone please get me married or I’ll jump into a well and die)” is what the Amritsar-born singer said to HT in a candid chat. He shared that music composer AR Rahman, too, wants him to get married. “I was in the recording studio with him for three days. The Jai Ho stars failed to receive official letters from the Oscar Committee at the nth minute and could not attend the much-awaited function… As India was still celebrating the success of Jai Ho, India’s bona fide contribution to the British production Slumdog Millionaire, two of its key participants, singer Sukhvinder Singh and lyricist Gulzar, found themselves watching the event unfold on television, miles away from Los Angeles where they were meant to be. The irony is sharper for Singh, who was supposed to perform live along with AR Rahman at the 81st Academy Awards ceremony at Kodak Theatre. The singer and lyricist could not make it to the event because their paperwork was botched. Their absence has raised quite a few eyebrows in the music industry. AR Rahman and Sukhwinder Singh to Perform at Oscars, Invited to Open Awards Night

The new flavour of the West, A. R. Rahman is all set to give a live taste of his musical magic at the Oscars ceremony this year. Rahman along with Sukhwinder has been invited to open the 81st annual Academy Awards night, on February 21 in Los Angeles, with the Oscar nominated song Jai Ho. Meanwhile, Rahman is working on the song to modify it to have it in sync with the live orchestra for his stage performance. And that's not all, ace lyricist Gulzar, who wrote the lyrics of Jai Ho is also expected to make an appearance at the gala award ceremony. Jai Ho along with O Saaya has been nominated in the Best Original Song category this year. Rahman has also been nominated for giving the Best Original Score for Slumdog Millionaire.
