Box Office Report of Dum Maro Dum: 'Dum Maaro Dum' opens to dull houses.
Despite the fact that Friday is a National Holiday, DUM MAARO DUM opened below the mark at the box office in the first and afternoon shows on friday morning at major centres of the country. Of course, the opening trends of DUM MAARO DUM were better than Abhishek Bachchan's last release GAME, but that's no compliment.
The occupancy at multiplexes was slightly better, especially at metros, in 30% to 35% range, while single screens were between 10% - 15% - 20%. The average opening, thus, stands at 25% - 30%, which is poor.
In view of the fact that it's a National Holiday, the morning and noon shows of DUM MAARO DUM should've started on 50% - 60% note at least. The terrific promotions as well as no major opposition to contend with are two factors that should have gone in its favor. But Punjabi film DHARTI, starring Jimmy Sheirgill [in North India] and Telugu film MR. PERFECT, starring Prabhas [in South India], besides the IPL matches in Kolkata and Mumbai, respectively are likely to prove tough opponents.
Meanwhile, the paid previews on Thursday were dull and recorded disappointing collections. The film only managed to collect decent figures at some multiplexes of Mumbai city. The release on paid previews was pretty extensive at multiplexes. It was probably the biggest paid preview release after Ghajini, Chandni Chowk To China and Three Idiots.

ReplyDeleteDum Maaro Dum will Flop for sure. DMD is boring and full of gimicks. I know it will do better than Abhi's last 3-4 releases but will flop none the less.

Old fellows if u do not like then it's ur age prob and not the movie. Fantastic climax and acting by all. Thumbs up for Sippy's. Done it again after BluffMaster
ReplyDeleteDum Maaro Dum despite being a good film is not doing that well at the BOx office - I heard monday it crashed further. Thats bcoz Abhishek bachchan has no mass appeal. The same film with somebody else would have been a blockbuster. What a waste.
