Ek Tha Tiger Box Office Report/Review - Collections Cross 155 cr in Week 1

Salman’s Ek Tha Tiger earns Rs 155 cr at Box Office in an extended 9 day week 1

Salman Khan's much-hyped movie Ek Tha Tiger has concluded the first week with a superb collection at the Box Office in India. The Kabir Khan directed romantic-action thriller has smashed all records of Ra.One, Agneepath and 3 Idiots. Interestingly, the film has surpassed the lifetime collection of Salman's previous movies like Dabangg and Bodyguard in just a week.

Before its release, promos of Ek Tha Tiger had created lot of curiosity among the movie buffs and Salmania had reached sky high. The movie, which released on 3,300 screens in India on August 15, registered 100% occupancy in both single screens and multiplexes. Theatres in several areas were crowded so much on the first day that theatre owners had to call in the police to control the mob.

Ek Tha Tiger raked in Rs 32.92 crores at the desi Box Office on the first day of its release. It is a very big amount as far as Hindi movies in India is concerned as no other movie had ever scored such a huge sum earlier. With this, the film surpassed the first day collection mark set by Agneepath, which had raked in Rs 23 crore nett on its opening day.

But the collection of Ek Tha Tiger went down by more than 50% on following days due to working day for schools, colleges and other offices. Its business picked up well on Sunday with the movie crossing Rs 100 crore mark in just five days, which is the biggest collection record in Indian Cinema so far. The breakup of its first weekend collection is Rs 32.92 cr on Wed, Rs 14.5 cr on Thur, Rs 12.90 cr on Fri, Rs 16.75 cr on Sat and Rs 23.06 cr nett on Sun.

Due to Eid holiday, the business of Ek Tha Tiger improved further on Monday with its occupancy ranging between 85% to 100% at both single screens and multiplexes. The movie witnessed dip in its collection on Tuesday and it continued to fall till the end of the first week. It has grossed Rs 156 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the nine day first week. Its weekdays' breakup is Rs 20.68 cr Mon, Rs 16.31 cr on Tue and Rs 10.45 cr on Wed and Rs 7.5 cr on Thur.

Overall, Ek Tha Tiger has received an overwhelming response at the domestic Box Office throughout the first week. The movie has shattered all old records and set several new records like all time biggest opener, the highest grosser first weekend, the highest grosser first week, the fastest Rs 100 crore grosser in just 5 days, ETT also turned out to be the first film to record over 10 crores in each of its first eight days, something that hasn’t ever happened before. Now Ek Tha Tiger is the second biggest grosser of all times, hence being next only to ‘3 Idiots‘ (202 Crore) crores).

the Salamn-Katrina starrer should do well in second week as well and though the percentage drop from first week would be seemingly high, one has to consider the fact that 150 crores plus in 9 days is no mean feat. Still, a second week of around 35 crore is a possibility which means the film would be ~190+ crore by second week end. Post that it would be a close watch to see the 200 crore mark being reached, something which cannot be ruled out
