The project was backed by popular singer Mika. “Why do you think they are out of work now? God is watching everything,” said Mika, in an interview with Pinkvilla, as he shared his rather bitter experience of working with the couple.

“See, I liked Karan a lot, and I wanted to back a film that would push my music in the forefront. I just wanted to make a low-budget film, around Rs 4 crore,” said Mika, who shared that he approached Vikram Bhatt to write the story because he couldn’t afford him as the director. “We roped in director Bhushan Patel, who had previously helmed Alone, which featured Bipasha in a double role.”
