Om Puri a warm-hearted, colossal actor: Gurinder Chadha

British filmmaker of Sikh origin Gurinder Chadha mourned the demise of veteran actor Om Puri, whom she directed for her next project Viceroy's House, saying that she will miss working with him.

British filmmaker of Sikh origin Gurinder Chadha mourned the demise of veteran actor Om Puri, whom she directed for her next project “Viceroy’s House”, saying that she will miss working with him. Om Puri died on Friday morning. He was 66. Chadha tweeted some jovial moments from the sets of “Viceroy’s House” — a true story of the final months of British rule in India. The film will be released in India and globally by Anil Ambani-led Reliance Entertainment on March 3, 2017.

She tweeted: “Goodbye my dear, warm-hearted, colossal actor and all round wonderful human being. I will miss showing you our work together and you teasing me about it over a drink. Love and peace. Happy times in set Viceroys House with Om Puri, Huma Qureshi.” A Padma Shri awardee and National Award-winning talent, Om Puri died following a heart attack here. His work extended from theatre, television, Indian films to those in Britain and the US too.

A National School of Drama alumnus, Om Puri also featured in movies like “Mirch Masala” and explored his ability to dabble in the comedy genre with “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro”, “Chachi 420”, “Hera Pheri”, “Malamaal Weekly” and more. Om Puri also nurtured an international career, which started with a cameo in Richard Attenborough’s “Gandhi”.

Salman Khan Issued Supreme Court Notice On Acquittal In Chinkara Poaching Case Actor Salman Khan was today issued notice by the Supreme Court on an appeal by the Rajasthan government challenging his acquittal in two poaching cases. In July, the Rajasthan High Court found the 50-year-old actor not guilty of killing an endangered species of gazelle or chinkara in two separate incidents in 1998 while he was shooting a film in the desert state. The state government challenged his acquittal; it wants him to be imprisoned to serve the rest of his sentence - after being convicted in 2007 for hunting down and killing the chinkaras, he was awarded a one-year prison term and a five-year prison term respectively. He then spent a week in jail in Jodhpur before being granted bail. Big Fight on Sets of Salman Khan's Film Dabangg

A major fight took place on the sets of the Salman Khan-Sonakshi Sinha starrer movie Dabang in Wai on Sunday night. Co-producer Manoj Chaturvedi, who was in high spirits, punched the chief assistant director Himanshu Mehra as the former’s son Shantanu (an AD on the film) complained of being mistreated by the unit. Himanshu Mehra was injured because of which he had to be given three stitches on his forehead. He is currently recuperating in a hospital. Salman Khan has fired Manoj Chaturvedi’s son Shantanu because of whom the fight took place. Producer Arbaaz Khan has called for a meeting today with Manoj, who is also the production controller on the sets.
