Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has revealed a delightful and viral anecdote about his marriage to Twinkle Khanna. In a recent interview, he publicly credited none other than Aamir Khan's 2000 film, Mela, for being the reason he and Twinkle finally tied the knot.

The charming revelation has taken social media by storm, offering a lighthearted glimpse into the lives of one of Bollywood's most enduring power couples. Akshay explained that during their courtship, he was eager to marry Twinkle. However, the actress, who was then focusing on her career, was hesitant. In a playful challenge, Twinkle gave him a condition: she would marry him if her upcoming film Mela, co-starring Aamir Khan, flopped at the box office.

"She said, 'If Mela doesn't work, I will marry you,'" Akshay recalled with a laugh. "She was so confident because it was an Aamir Khan film, and directed by Dharmesh Darshan. Everyone believed it would be a huge hit."

As fate would have it, Mela did not fare well at the box office, becoming a commercial failure. And as per the agreement, Twinkle honored her word, and the couple got married in a low-key, intimate ceremony with just 50 guests.

Akshay, with his characteristic wit, humorously apologized to Aamir Khan for the film's poor performance, while also expressing his gratitude. "Sorry Aamir Khan sahab, your film didn't work. But I got married because of you," he quipped, a line that has since been widely shared and celebrated online.
