PM Narendra Modi Embarks on Three-Nation Tour, Heading to Cyprus Before G7 Summit in Canada

New Delhi, June 15, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today departed from New Delhi, commencing a significant three-nation diplomatic tour that will see him visit Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia. The multi-leg journey underscores India's commitment to strengthening global ties, with a key highlight being his participation in the G7 Summit in Canada this Tuesday.

The Prime Minister's first stop is the Republic of Cyprus, where he will be from June 15-16, following an invitation from President Nikos Christodoulides. This visit, the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Cyprus in over two decades, aims to build upon historical bonds and expand cooperation in crucial areas such as trade, investment, security, and technology, along with fostering people-to-people exchanges. While in Nicosia, PM Modi is expected to hold talks with President Christodoulides and address business leaders in Limassol.

Following his engagements in Cyprus, PM Modi will travel to Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada, to attend the G7 Summit on June 16-17. This marks his sixth consecutive participation in the influential gathering, an invitation extended by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. The summit is anticipated to provide a crucial platform for an exchange of views on pressing global issues and to highlight the priorities of the Global South. PM Modi is also slated to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit with various world leaders.

The Canadian G7 Presidency, led by Prime Minister Mark Carney, is focusing on key priorities including protecting communities and the world, building energy security, accelerating the digital transition, and securing future partnerships. India's presence at the G7 Summit is seen as essential, given its growing economic and geopolitical significance.

In the final leg of his tour, PM Modi will visit Croatia on June 18, at the invitation of Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. This will be the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia, signifying a new chapter in bilateral relations between the two countries, which share centuries-old cultural links.

In a departure statement, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the three-nation tour is also an opportunity to express gratitude to partner countries for their unwavering support to India in its fight against cross-border terrorism and to galvanize global understanding on tackling terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
