Smriti Mandhana’s Father Shrinivas Mandhana is Stable But Under Observation, May Need Angiography Says Doctor.


The wedding celebrations for Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and composer Palaash Muchhal have been indefinitely postponed, following a major health scare involving the bride's father, Shrinivas Mandhana, who was rushed to the hospital with heart attack-like symptoms on the morning of the wedding.

In a critical update, the hospital has released a statement confirming Mr. Mandhana's condition, noting elevated cardiac markers and the possibility of further intervention.

Doctor’s Official Statement on Shrinivas Mandhana’s Health

Dr. Naman Shah, Director of Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli, where Mr. Mandhana is admitted, provided a detailed health update to the media:

Symptoms and Time: "Shrinivas Mandhana, Smriti Mandhana's father, experienced symptoms of a heart attack around 11:30 AM after feeling left-sided chest pain," said Dr. Shah. Medically, this is referred to as 'angina.'

Initial Findings: Mr. Mandhana was immediately transferred to the hospital. Initial reports show that his cardiac enzymes are slightly raised, and his blood pressure is currently elevated, necessitating continuous monitoring.

Future Procedure: While an initial echocardiogram showed no new major findings, the medical team is taking extreme caution. Dr. Shah confirmed that Mr. Mandhana "may need continuous ECG monitoring and, if necessary, angiography."

Stress Identified as Possible Cause

When asked about the potential cause of the sudden health episode, Dr. Shah noted that the symptoms could be linked to the intense schedule and emotional weight of the event.

"It could be due to physical or mental stress, perhaps because it is wedding season with a lot of hectic activity," the doctor remarked.

Wedding Postponed: Family Health Comes First

Following the immediate medical emergency, Smriti Mandhana’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, confirmed the wedding scheduled for November 23 was indefinitely postponed.

Smriti, who shares a close bond with her father-the man who sacrificed his own dreams to nurture her cricketing career-was firm in her decision. "Smriti is very clear that she wants her father to recover first and then resume the wedding. It has been indefinitely postponed," Mishra stated.

The entire nation, including the cricketing and music fraternities, continues to send thoughts and prayers for the speedy recovery of Shrinivas Mandhana as he remains under close medical observation.

Just a day before the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s high-octane film Raees on January 25, we have a new song from the movie: Intriguingly titled Dhingana, the track details SRK’s journey from a small-time bootlegger to a dreaded gangster in the film. The song is sung by Mika Singh. It seems the film is trying to project him as a benevolent gangster who knows how to take care of his people. It looks more like the Indian version of Robinhood.
