Salman Khan Fumes at Paparazzi Outside Mumbai Hospital: “I am 60, But I Haven’t Forgotten How to Fight”

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan lost his cool with paparazzi outside Hinduja Hospital. Read about his viral confrontation and the fiery late-night Instagram warning that followed.

In an industry where the lines between a celebrity’s public persona and private life are perpetually blurred, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan just drew a hard, unyielding line.

On Tuesday evening, May 19, Mumbai’s P.D. Hinduja Hospital became the flashpoint for a tense confrontation between the actor and the city's paparazzi. Visibly shaken and deeply angered, Salman did not hold back, sparking a fierce online debate about the boundaries of media coverage and culminating in a series of raw, unfiltered late-night social media posts.

The Hospital Confrontation: What Happened?

The incident began when photographers spotted Salman’s vehicle at a traffic signal and followed him to Hinduja Hospital, where he was visiting someone close to him during a difficult time.

As the actor exited the medical facility, the gathered shutterbugs swarmed the area, aggressively shouting “Bhai, Bhai!” and loudly chanting “Maatrubhumi”—the title of his highly anticipated upcoming film—in an attempt to get him to pose or give a comment.

Hospitals are universally recognized as spaces of quiet and sensitivity, and the chaotic energy proved to be the breaking point for the superstar. Videos captured a furious Salman gesturing sharply at the photographers, demanding they remain quiet. In the viral footage, he can be heard confronting them directly, asking, "Are you crazy? Have you no shame at all? If someone from your own family was inside this hospital, would I react this way?"

Realizing they had crossed a line, several photographers could be heard quickly apologizing and lowering their cameras, but the damage was already done.

The Late-Night Outburst: "Pic Important Hai Ya Life?"

If the paparazzi thought the tension ended at the hospital gates, Salman’s Instagram account proved otherwise. Around 2:00 AM on Wednesday morning, the actor uploaded a series of intense selfies paired with deeply emotional, fiercely worded notes blasting the media’s lack of empathy.

“If I see any press at a hospital enjoying my pain,” Salman wrote, reminding the media of the decades of mutual respect they had shared. “The press that I have stood for, interacted with, taken care of, made sure that they also earn their bread and butter. But if they wanna make money from my losses… keep quiet, don't enjoy.”

Addressing the fact that photographers were screaming his movie title outside a medical facility, he added bluntly, “Bhai bhai bhai matrabhumi picture ki maaa ki aankh, pic imp hai ya life (Screw the movie promotion. What's more important right now, a picture or a human life)?”

"I Haven't Forgotten How to Fight"

Salman wrapped up his digital warning with a potent reminder of his resilience, shrugging off any fear of consequences.

“Bhai ke ek bhai ke dukh par अगली बार try kar lena mere sath. Buss try kar lena... (Next time, try capitalizing on my brother's pain. Just try it...),” he warned, before dropping the line that has since gone viral across social media: “Saath saal ka ho gaya hoon lekin ladna nahiin bhoola yeh yaad rakh lena, jail mein dalo ge haaa haaa (I am 60 years old, but remember, I haven't forgotten how to fight. What will you do, throw me in jail? Ha ha).”

A Fractured Relationship and a Growing Debate

The relationship between Salman Khan and the Mumbai paparazzi has historically been a colorful one. Over his legendary career, he has been known to banter with them, fund medical help for photographers in need, and ensure they are well-fed at his events. However, he has always fiercely protected his personal space during times of grief or family health crises.

The incident has polarized internet users. While some argue that aggressive hounding is "part of the job" for the paparazzi trying to make a living, a massive wave of support has flooded in for Salman. Fans and neutral observers alike are pointing out that a hospital is not a red carpet, and a celebrity’s personal trauma should never be treated as "content."

On the work front, Salman is currently juggling Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace (directed by Apoorva Lakhia) and an upcoming mega-project with director Vamshi Paidipally and producer Dil Raju, tentatively titled SVC63, alongside Nayanthara. But for today, the box office is taking a back seat to a much larger conversation about basic human decency.
